The tragicomic journey home
Okey, so the trip home to Finland did not quite go as expected. Anu woke up feeling sick to her stomach and with a blocked nose. She just made it to the airport in Phuket when her breakfast decided to come up for the first time. After a few visits to the toilet, we proceeded all the way to the flight gate. Unfortunately, she threw up just as she was going to board the plane and got stopped by a flight attendant. They sat her down and called a medical assistant. Ellen and I boarded the plane and I was sure that Anu´s family was going to come right after. However, soon the plane started to move without them! That was a weird feeling! So Anu´s family was left in Phuket and they are still there trying to arrange a new flight home.
As if this was not enough, after about 6 hours into the 11 hours flight, also Ellen got sick and started throwing up! Panically I pressed the button for the stewardess who was kind enough to help me. Mostly I felt sorry for the rest of the passengers having to bear the smell of vomit. And Ellen of course! However, now one family is happily reunited at home. Finland is grey and the roads are so slippery that one has to be grateful every time one goes outside and manages not to break any bones.
Mexican food and bubbly to celebrate being home!
